Dr. Yongjian Gu is an associate professor currently teaching in the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) and an adjunct associate professor in New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). Dr. Gu graduated from The State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook with a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1998. Dr. Gu is holding a license of registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of New York. He is also holding a certificate of Professional Oracle Database Administrator (DBA).
Dr. Yongjian Gu has more than 18-year teaching experience in universities and more than 20year professional experience in industries, consulting companies, and R&D institutions. His responsibilities of professional work included Lead Mechanical Engineer in Brookhaven National Laboratory, Senior Engineering Analyst in Stantec Consulting Group, and Senior Mechanical Engineer in Han-Padron Associates. In universities, Dr. Gu’s major teaching areas are thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, energy system, engineering economics, and thermodynamic systems and equipment. His engineering practices are in design and R&D of the HVAC system, piping systems, thermal energy systems, and renewable/sustainable energy.
Dr. Yongjian Gu has many publications in above teaching and R&D areas. Dr. Gu is a board member of Engineers Joint Committee of Long Island (EJCLI).
